12 Blogs of Christmas- Supporting Small Businesses

Blog Christmas shop local small business

Supporting small and local businesses this Christmas not only helps the economy but we do a happy dance in our kitchen with every order!

With the continuous rise (with no hint of slowing down) of giant companies such as Amazon, eBay, Microsoft, Wish etc during this Christmas season, it's never been more important to support small businesses in your community.

Don't get me wrong, I have been guilty of using Amazon for my 'go-to' gifts in the past but I now use it as a last resort if I absolutely cannot find exactly what I am looking for. I know it's easy, fast and cheap to use those services but have those companies actually put their time, their effort and love into products you wear with confidence, use for your big garden or apartment balcony or fill your home up with amazing Christmas fragrances

As I've gotten older and now have started Bookshelf Candles, I've certainly become more conscious of what I'm purchasing, where I'm purchasing from and knowingly how happy that small business is going to be when they see my order come through to their email. And how I know that is, is because I do that exact same happy dance, let my boyfriend know these exact words "I've got an order" and my mind and heart is at peace. Well, at least for a few moments before I get stuck into making candles and packing until 1am.

Being on this incredible journey of owning my own small business has broadened my views of the incredible, resilient, talented small business community has to offer.

So while you're here and it's almost time to start Christmas shopping, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and take a look at these beautiful small businesses that Australia has to offer.
